Guatemala

Guatemala is not that different from Mexico in my eyes, except for the plantlife and terrain. In Southern Mexico the soil was wet and soft and the plants were more tropical, here in Guatemala the soil is more dry and rocky, the air more polluted and the poverty unbelievably high. I see kids, kids who should be getting an education, who should be in school, shining shoes for a living, selling bracelets, necklaces, flutes, and gum. Its not how it should be. Somebody who has to do dirty work instead of getting a good education is not right. Ive said all I need to say.

When did this go up? Any further thoughts since then?

  2. Aunt Karen says:

Yeah! Maybe someday you can return and help teach these kids.

Joe, you are learning valuable lessons “outside of school”, indeed. Having been in Europe this past summer, you must have many sensory images twirling through your brain.
We’ll be having Christmas Eve at our house tonight, and we will miss you greatly–here in our House of Plenty. Nannie
