We spent a couple days on one of the Honduran bay islands called Utila where the main attraction is SCUBA diving. My mom and I booked a couple of learning to dive where we got a chance to go under water to see the coral reef which happens to be the second largest in the world. The first day my PADI instructor was named Rusty who was a very good instructor and explained everything explicitly and very clearly. On our first dive we didn’t do much but on the second dive which my mom didn’t go on we went down 40 feet.
Scuba stands for Self Contained Underwater Breathing Apparatus. The gear includes a weight belt, a regulator (breathing device), a compressed air tank a wet suit goggles a snorkel and a few straps to keep the gear on.

Very exciting–I’m really proud of you! I’m one of those people who did it for like 30 seconds and panicked, so I greatly admire how adventurous you are. Keep writing….
Wow, Joe! Scuba diving!! Good for you to be so successful–I am really proud of you (actually in awe). I can’t believe you went horseback riding and scuba diving within the same week. Nannie
Oh, Joe, how fabulous! Have you done some snorkeling, too? I love snorkeling, also liked diving, but it’s more technical than I like to be in the water, but on the other hand, I’ve never seen things like you have by going down those 40 feet. You rock!
Joe, do you recommend it? Was it fun?
Congrats Joe! It sounds like you’re taking advantage of every opportunity for adventure. Very exciting! I love hearing about your travels from your point of view. Just wish you posted more often. xoxo
Joe, I’m anxiously awaiting your comments on bugs and butterflies. Nannie
Joe — scuba diving is one of those things I don’t do. Great to read about your adventures
